Rolf Seelmann-Eggebert: ‚The Future of the Crown‘

After 1992, the „annus horribilis“ in the House of Windsor, there was a lot of speculation as to whether Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II might also become Queen Elizabeth the Last. The death of Princess Diana in 1997 marked yet another drop in popularity. Since then the Crown has seen a remarkable recovery culminating in the overwhelming celebrations of the Golden Jubilee.

It is only a few weeks ago that Queen Elizabeth paid her fourth State visit to the Federal Republic of Germany celebrating the friendship between the two countries. The warm welcome which she received both in Berlin and Düsseldorf is an impressive testimony to the international reputation and appreciation of the British Monarchy.

So in his lecture the speaker will be focusing on the so-called crisis, the real crisis and the return to normality.

Rolf Seelmann-Eggebert was born in Berlin in 1937. Having graduated in sociology he worked as a foreign correspondent for radio and TV in Africa, and those years were followed by a long period as TV correspondent in London, where he reported on events such as the „Trooping the Colour“ or the „Last Night of the Proms“ and the „Edinburgh Tattoo“.

To a broad TV-Audience Rolf Seelmann-Eggebert is well-known for his documentaries and live programmes on Royalty for which he received the „Goldene Kamera“ and the „Bambi“. TV archives in Germany contain numerous programmes both on Royalty worldwide and on Britain such as „Rund um Big Ben“ and „Britische Nachbarn“.

Our speaker is active in many charitable organisations and – following a longstanding service to our society – he is now Honorary Member of the Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft.

Zu diesem Vortrag in englischer Sprache laden wir Sie herzlich ein. Gäste sind sehr willkommen!
